Today the bride and groom and I had a fantastic day after session on Boca Grande. Everyone was so exhausted from the wedding, we almost canceled it. I wish I could show you, but you will have to take my word for it, it was time well spent.

The day after session is my favorite part of the wedding photography biz. The bride and groom are so much more relaxed and no one has to worry about a tight time schedule. It really comes through in the pictures. there are also so any more things a bride can do in her dress, that we wouldn't dare try on a wedding day.

Tomorrow- the beach, a book, and a bottle of sunscreen.

The Wedding Day

Te rehearsal was tons of fun. I stayed until the end and was completely exhausted when I got back to my hotel. I had never been so happy to go to bed at 10pm.

Sorry folks, there won't be any pictures of the rehearsal or the wedding due to a confidentiality agreement, but I will post some detail shots as I get approval.

So on this wedding day, I will leave you with a story about true love that I saw on TV this morning.

In Germany, a female swan now named Petra had fallen in love with a swan paddle boat, similar to those in Boston. This was a problem, due to the fact that swans mate for life. The officials removed Petra and paired her up with a mate, but she promptly left him. It was decided that the only solution was to reunite Petra with her fiberglass fiance and donate the paddle boat to her. It just goes to show that when you know you have met your one and only, nothing can tear you apart.

Ahhh......Florida

I can't describe how nice it is to feel 80 degree days again. No one would be more desperate for it than a Michigander at the end of March.

Venice is a great little town, nice beach. I need to work on my tan a bit so everyone will stop asking me where I'm from.

The wedding is in Boca Grande, just a little south of here. Tonight I am off to the rehearsal dinner, so I can scout out the location.

  Lindsey and Don and the most laid-back destination wedding, I often forgot I was working. Lindsey was the perfect bride, relaxed, confident, beautiful, and radiant. The view was incredible and the setting was perfect. Her day after session was worth its weight in gold. Everyone should do this....  

Did I Mention In-N-Out Burger?

In-N-Out Burger is the love child of a fast food place and a mom and pop burger joint. Maybe it is good that they aren't out here. When you are out there, go. And don't forget to check online for the secret menu.

Malibu Part Deux

What's not to love about Malibu (and L.A. for that matter). Tim and I had a great time, soaked up some sun, saw a few sights, bought some shoes (ok that was me, not Tim).

Victoria and Bruce celebrated their marriage at Duke's in Malibu. Hawiian shirts abound, everyone had a great time and danced the night away.

City of Angels

I just landed in fabulous Los Angeles this morning to shoot an event on Saturday in Malibu. I will be out of the office until Tuesday. For everyone waiting for proofs, albums, etc...don't worry, this is very much a working trip. I edited weddings the whole way here on the plane, causing quite a stir with my giant laptop, Wacom Tablet and DQ QuicKeys. Thank goodness Tim and I had a row to ourselves.

Our first stop was In-n-Out Burger! I would have taken a picture to post, but I ate it WAY too fast. Anyone who has had one, knows what I mean.

I can still be reached by email and phone. Saturday I will be out of touch all day.

Valley of Fire

I am so excited to post some of the images from the shoot out at Valley of Fire, Nevada! I do not have any time right now to explain the details, but let's start with a few pictures and I will fill in the blanks as soon as I get a break in the action.

Boston, MA- Jennifer and Marina, March 3,2007

What a day! Jennifer and Marina were married in Boston yesterday at the beautiful Cafe Escadrille and it was pure magic. The weather this week was typical Eastern Seaboard weather (cold and miserable), but on Saturday, the clouds parted, the sun came out and it was 50 degrees. Then today it went right back to freezing. It had to be fate. It is such a joy to photograph two people so much in love on their greatest day. After what was one of the most memorable ceremonies, we moved on to the dance floor where we shook what our mothers gave us.

It is weddings like these that make me realize how blessed I am to do what I love. I do not underestimate the power a photographer has when two entire families assemble for one of life's greatest rituals. If only for one day, I am their family historian.

Dinner time

Ok, I was in the North End and  I had the best Italian cooking at my disposal, but I just wasn't in the mood. I wanted to warm up and I wanted seafood. A favorite place of mine was nearby. Kingfish Hall, a Todd English resturant is located in Faneuial Hall and has this fire pit where fish are smoke-cooked over the fire on spikes. Everyone who knows me knws that when I get hungry, something dies. The front row seat of a fish roasting over an open fire was not only acceptable, it was down right appetizing. Watching the chefs work like a well oiled machine with the steaks, lobsters, and fish sent me right to culinary heaven.
